MPC Capital and Kadans Vastgoed buy Blaak 16 in Rotterdam from IVG (NL)

MPC Capital Netherlands, together with real estate developer and investor Kadans Vastgoed and a consortium of investors, has acquired the office property Blaak 16 in Rotterdam. The building has a lettable area of approximately 15,000 m² spread over 14 floors and a garage with 125 parking spaces. The building will be fully renovated and redeveloped for new uses.

Pieter Akkerman, Managing Director of MPC Capital Netherlands, commented: "We are looking selectively inside and outside our portfolio from a new perspective at buildings in strong locations, which can get a second life. Blaak 16 is such a building; thanks to its design, size and location can be an interesting choice for many users after its redevelopment."

Michel Leemhuis, Director of Kadans Vastgoed adds: "In recent years, we have seen that full collaboration-The Power of Partnership-between parties and the input of specific expertise can lead to greater strength. We therefore expect that the transformation of Blaak 16 would be a first step to more joint "redevelopment" projects in the Netherlands."

Blaak 16 is strategically located in the heart of Rotterdam, directly opposite the intercity railway station Rotterdam Blaak, and is easily accessible by public transport. The municipality and private parties have invested substantially in the surrounding area. One of the most striking developments in this area is the Markthal, the first indoor market in the Netherlands, due to be opened in October 2014.
