The design hotel and hostel MOSAIC HOUSE was founded in 2010 and was the first “green” hotel and hostel in the Czech Republic. It has now undergone a major renovation as well as a “facelift”. The whole hotel and hostel has undergone a partial reconstruction and, additionally, two new luxurious Penthouse suites with beautiful views of Prague have been built on the seventh floor.
MOSAIC HOUSE was the first reconstructed hotel and hostel in the Czech Republic to receive the BREEAM In-Use “Excellent” certificate. It now houses 55 shared and 41 private rooms. The newly renovated historical building from the 1930s was injected with a good dose of “chic” energy after its reconstruction as well as the addition of a brand new music bar.
MOSAIC HOUSE runs on ecological technologies, which help to save energy and stop resources from getting wasted. Three years have passed since the opening of the hostel and during that time MOSAIC HOUSE has received many prestigious awards, for instance: E.ON Ecoenergy Award, Trip Advisor 25 hotels in the CZ, Top 10 Eco Hostels for Worlds Earth Day, Best of Prague – Best Hotel – Readers Choice and many more.
MOSAIC HOUSE was founded in 2010 after a complete reconstruction and also a change of the usage of a historical building in the Charles Square neighbourhood. The newly renovated building was injected with ultra-modern eco-techologies. Consequently, the building is “green”, which not only that means electrity, gas and water can be saved – it also alludes to the functional greenery on the roof, surrounding areas and interior of the building. For instance, energy is obtained from the “waste heat” of technological equipment and, additionally “greywater” from showers and sinks is recycled. These two processes are at the forefront of green technologies. The greywater system is the first of its kind in the Czech Republic and the second heat-recuperation greywater system in the world. MOSAIC HOUSE is also the first carbon neutral hostel in the Czech Republic.
