Modest economic growth in third quarter

According to first estimates of Statistics Netherlands´ quarterly accounts the volume of gross domestic product (GDP) was 0.3 percent higher in the third quarter of 2002 than twelve months previously. This puts the growth for the first three quarters of this year at 0.1 percent.

Consumption by households and by the government have contributed positively to economic growth. Investments and exports, on the other hand, were lower than a year ago. The GDP proce increase was stable at 3.3 percent.
