MIPIM Awards 2011: 21 finalists announced (FR)

MIPIM yesterday (January 26, 2011) announced the 21 finalists for the 2011 MIPIM Awards selected by a jury of international real estate professionals and the introduction of a new award category.

The jury examined some 100 projects from 27 countries ranging from Germany to Turkey and India to Japan. The jury paid special attention to such criteria as infrastructure and transportation access, environmental integration, originality of concept, technical and architectural quality and services offered.

For the first time at the MIPIM Awards, entries will be invited to the new FUTURA category, recognizing projects which have not yet started construction.

A second innovation in 2011 is that MIPIM Awards winners will be chosen by a combination of the MIPIM delegates and the international jury, each group representing 50% of the final vote.

"The projects nominated for the MIPIM Awards come from all over the world, giving a global overview of the quality of today's real-estate projects. We decided to change the organization of the MIPIM Awards by involving the jury alongside participants so as to avoid putting smaller, less-familiar projects at a disadvantage even though they are good enough to win a MIPIM Award," says Filippo Rean, Director of MIPIM.
