MIPIM 2006: Marquee events at MIPIM 2006

Many important personalities will be attending the 17th MIPIM, to be held from March 14 to 17 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

A keynote conference, to be held at the revised time 12:00 a.m., 14 March, will bring together two of the worlds premier mayors, Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London (photo left), and Bertrand Delanöe, Mayor of Paris (photo right). They will share their experience of city management against a background of urban social, economic and environmental challenges. Moderator of this session will be Mr. Greg Clark, Advisor on City & Regional Development ODPM, UK. This conference will be held in the Esterel room in the Palais des Festivals.

The architect Daniel Libeskind, internationally known for his work on the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the Ground Zero Freedom Towers in New York, will attend MIPIM to unveil his latest project during a presentation reception on 16 March at 4:30 p.m. at the Copenhagen, Denmark stand.

Also on the agenda is the inauguration of MIPIM on 14 March by Christian Estrosi, Ministre Délégué à l'Aménagement du Territoire, Président du Conseil Général des Alpes Maritimes. At 11:00 a.m., the Minister will speak to journalists in the Verrière of the Grand Auditorium.

For the first time at MIPIM, the Press Club will arrange two Round Tables featuring two major Property Talks 2006 speakers - Zaha Hadid, the first woman to win the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004, and the futurologist and consultant Paul A. Laudicina.

These Round Tables provide an opportunity for journalists to find out more about these personalities and question them in a more confidential setting than the Palais des Festivals conference rooms:

Tuesday 14 March, 6:00 p.m., Press Club Round Table Paul A. Laudicina, Vice President and Managing Director Global Business Policy Council at A.T. Kearney, a strategic service for CEOs. In a career spanning over 20 years, Mr. Laudicina has advised business leaders from global corporations and governments on strategic issues related to corporate and public policy. In 2005, the editors of Consulting Magazine ranked Mr. Laudicina among the Top 25 Most Influential Consultants.

Date to be determined, Press Club Round Table Zaha Hadid based in London, this architect and designer gained international renown for such well-known projects as Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein (1993); Hoenheim Nord Tram terminus in Strasbourg (2001); the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati (2003); the BMW Central Building in Leipzig (2005) and the Phaeno Science Center in Wolfsburg (2005).
