INDITEX is one of the world's largest operators in the fashion industry, with over 5,000 stores in 77 countries. The group comprises more than a hundred firms dealing with fashion design, production and distribution, with ZARA functioning as the flagship brand of the group. Shops belonging to INDITEX Group are found in retail districts of the world's biggest cities. In Poland, where the first store was opened in 1999, INDITEX now holds 117 retail outlets.

Being developed in a joint venture partnership between Meyer Bergman, the European real estate management firm, and NEINVER, a leading pan-European retail developer, Galeria Katowicka is a new ca. €200-million retail-led mixed-use development at Katowice railway station in Poland.

Centered around the city's main square, the three-phase project comprises the redevelopment and renovation of the Katowice railway station and bus terminus, to be completed in Q2 2012; the development of a modern new shopping center, comprising 220 units over 47,500 m² GLA, to be completed in Q2 2013; as well as 18,000 m² of mixed-use space. The scheme will also provide up to 1,200 city center underground car parking spaces.

Markus Meijer, Chief Executive of Meyer Bergman, said "Attracting such a major fashion operator as INDITEX is a true reflection of the quality of product we expect to deliver at Katowicka. Flagship brands such as ZARA and Massimo Dutti are hugely popular in Poland and will set the tone for the quality of tenants we expect to secure on the rest of the retail space. We continue to be in discussions with a number of other key potential occupiers for the center and hope to announce further pre-lets shortly."
