Merkur and Novum Hospitality to open 'the niu' hotel in Eschborn (DE)

Merkur Development Holding is building a 7-storey hotel, with 176 rooms and 83 long-stay apartments, in Eschborn/Taunus, Germany. Even before construction began, Novum Hospitality had signed a long lease to operate a hotel, trading under the midrange "the niu" brand. Construction of the hotel, at Mergenthaler Allee 23-25, will commence in November 2019, with the opening slated for summer 2021. The investment volume is around €32m.

Marcus Hientzsch, Director of MERKUR Development Holding, commented: "Eschborn has increasingly become established as a hotel location in the Frankfurt metropolitan region. We are certain that the additional range of apartments on offer will address a particular need here."

The hotel in Eschborn, named "the niu Belt" is the fourth of the over 50 "the niu" hotels across Europe for which NOVUM Hospitality has relied on MERKUR as a developer. "We greatly appreciate the strategic partnership with Merkur and are delighted about "the niu Belt" as one of the five hotels trading under that midrange brand that we are establishing in the Rhine-Main region", said David Etmenan, Chief Executive Officer and owner of Novum Hospitality.
