Meliá Hotels unveils plans to reopen

Meliá Hotels begins to reopen

Meliá Hotels International is steadily advancing towards the “new normal" for tourism and travel. After the lockdown in its activity due to Covid-19, the company is now ready to reactivate destinations and welcome customers back to its hotels, offering them the best possible hotel experience this summer with the most rigorous health and safety measures.

Under the slogan "When you come back, stay safe with Meliá", the chain is launching a major campaign to reconnect with customers and activate bookings in its key markets. Melia.com will offer a wide range of hotels which will also gradually be extended in line with customer demand. Among the benefits of the promotion are a 30% discount as well as free and flexible cancellation. Customers who are members of the MeliáRewards loyalty programme also get 50% extra bonus points when they buy MeliáRewards points.

The company currently has more than 60 hotels open worldwide. The Asia Pacific region has been the first to fully recover, with Meliá expecting to have its entire portfolio in the region open and operating by early July. In the EMEA region, the reopening of hotels will take place in different stages and regions, having already started in countries such as Portugal, Germany and Italy.

In Spain, the staggered opening of hotels will begin in July, depending on the evolution of demand, and something similar will happen in America and the Caribbean, which will depend mainly on the evolution of their feeder markets.

“After everything we've been through, we all deserve a good summer and a good holiday. We want to transmit a message of total safety through our Stay Safe with Meliá programme, but we also want to continue offering the hotel experience that distinguishes Meliá to such a high degree, the essence of our company and our care for the well-being of our customers," explained Gabriel Escarrer, Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International.
