MAPIC Awards 2007: shopping centers come to the fore

The race for the MAPIC Awards 2007 has begun. This thirteenth edition has broken the all-time participation record with no less than 42 projects from 19 countries. The jury, presided by Sharon Fernandez Cavada King, Director of the Retail Department at DTZ Asesores Inmobiliarios Internacionales, will choose seven winners from the submitted projects, all of which are showcased at MAPIC, to be held in Cannes from 14 to 16 November.

"The MAPIC Awards represent professional recognition from the retail real estate sector. This competition is spreading its wings with even more international projects flooding in, mainly from Western and Eastern Europe and North America. The MAPIC Awards continue to innovate, as illustrated this year by the creation of a new category dedicated to shopping centers." says Javier Andrès, MAPIC Sales Director.

For the past twelve years, the MAPIC Awards have paid tribute to international retailers who have shown a dynamic approach in their search for commercial locations abroad. For the first time this year, a new category has been dedicated to shopping centers which stand out for the originality of their concept, their architectural and environmental qualities, and their service provision.

The winners, six retailers and a shopping center, will be unveiled at the prize giving ceremony on 15 November at 7pm in the Théâtre Debussy at the Palais des Festivals, preceded by a fashion show of Triumph lingerie, the MAPIC Awards 2007 sponsor.
