MAPIC 15-17 nov 2006, Cannes: Specialty leasing: threat or win-win situation?

Pressure on producing greater income from shopping centres, as well as the development of professional specialty retailers, has resulted in the growth of Specialty Leasing within European shopping centres.

MAPIC: 16 Nov., 14:30-15:30, Auditorium A, Level 3, Palais des Festivals:

Rodamco Europe is hosting a panel discussion on The Growth of Specialty Leasing in Europe during this year's Mapic conference in Cannes. Joost Bomhoff, COO will be moderating this session.  It was the interest and success of last year's panel on the relationship between retailers and landlords that prompted interest in creating this new panel.

The panel discussion on Specialty Leasing will start with a definition of this business for our audience.  Specifically, Specialty Leasing refers to all sources of income from our properties other than rental income from long term leases.  This type of income includes, but is not limited to, retail merchandising units (RMUs), kiosks, advertising panels, promotions, and vending machines.

Specialty Leasing continues to grow as an important part of the shopping center and retail industry. The goal of the panel session is to recognize the importance of professionalism and quality in Specialty Leasing programs through a discussion of both its good and bad perceived impact on shopping centers.

To create a lively debate, we want to represent both sides of this topic, experienced vs. not experienced: landlord perspective vs. tenant, Specialty Leasing tenants vs. permanent tenants, enhancing the shopping experience or harming , etc.  To achieve this lively debate, we have identified a group of European panelists that will represent each of these opposing sides of the topic.

Using last year as the standard, no aspect will go un-discussed in what will prove to be a dynamic discussion on Specialty Leasing.
