The Municipality of Rotterdam has decided in principle that present lease hold contracts may be bought off to turn them in to free holds as soon as possible after 1 January 2003.
Presently there are some 30,000 lease hold contracts in Rotterdam with house owners, housing associations, companies, shop owners, offices and non-profit institutions. Since 1970 all land has been issued in lease hold. Annual proceeds amounts to EUR 15 mln.
