Last pile Panattoni Park Steenwijk festively celebrated (NL)

Panattoni Park Steenwijk, a new multifunctional building of c. 34,000m2, celebrated the successful progress of the construction with the driving of the last pile.

Panattoni Park Steenwijk, a sustainable warehouse in Eeserwold, is being built according to BREEAM-NL Very Good standard with a clear height of 12.20m and super-flat floor. Earthwork and pile driving are finished and construction will soon start. The building will have extensive green areas to strengthen local biodiversity. It's scheduled for completion in Q1 2025.

Bram Harmsma, alderman at the Municipality of Steenwijkerland: "Panattoni Park Steenwijk fits in seamlessly with the sustainable area development vision of the Municipality of Steenwijkerland. Developer Panattoni and the municipality, together with landscape architects and ecologists, have conducted extensive research into an optimal integration of the building into the natural landscape. As a result of this collaboration, the project now includes, for example, ponds as water reservoirs, enriched with aquatic plants from the adjacent Eesermeer. In addition, a great diversity of plants has been chosen that attracts insects and provides shelter for local fauna."

Melanie Moolman, Technical Director Panattoni, added: "Recent research has shown that the Dutch in 2024 exercise too little. This has been taken into account at Panattoni Park Steenwijk. The green grounds surrounding the building and the nearby 4.4-hectare Eesermeer invite you to set off and take a leisurely walk in the open air during breaks. The site also offers a secure bicycle shed and there are showers in the building where you can freshen up after a bike ride. For example, employees are encouraged to cycle to work. Through these measures, we hope to encourage the users of the building to get moving and connect with nature, which has been proven to give a positive boost to their health and well-being."

The design of Panattoni Park Steenwijk and the surrounding landscape was created in collaboration with the Municipality of Steenwijkerland, area developer Roelofs Planontwikkeling B.V., architectural firm MIES Architectuur and ecological consultancy Hollandsgroen.

Panattoni is considering collaborating with Eeserwold business park to produce green hydrogen. The building will have access to a sustainable cooling water network that is an advantage for companies that require refrigerated storage. Panattoni Park Steenwijk is located along the A32, with easy access to the northern provinces, the German border, and the European hinterland.
