Lands Improvement obtains planning approval for 201 homes in Colchester, Essex. (UK)

Lands Improvement, the land development and promotion group, under the shareholding of MGPA Europe Fund III, L.P, has obtained planning approval for 201 homes on a former brownfield site.

Acquired in August 2011, the 14 acre site is part of an overall 53 acre landholding situated in Colchester, Essex surrounded by an orchard and woodlands. The brownfield part of the site, which is now vacated, has approximately 250,000 ft² (approx. 23,200 m²) of old buildings which will be demolished.

The approval for the planning application follows extensive consultation with Colchester and Tendring councils and the local community.

Kevin Moriarty, Managing Director of Lands Improvement Holdings Limited commented: “We are encouraged by the recent moves by the coalition government to stimulate house building by underpinning mortgages and this planning approval is another step to bring forward a previously brownfield site for much needed housing development. This approval also adds to consents gained for 2 other UK schemes in recent months allowing LIH to provide much needed infrastructure in order that people accessing the new government initiatives have access to homes.”
