Land Securities announces directorate changes (UK)

Land Securities announces that Alison Carnwath has been appointed to the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2004. On joining the Board, she will serve as an independent member of both the Audit and Remuneration committees.

Alison, 51, qualified as an accountant in 1979 and began her banking career in 1980, when she joined Lloyds Bank International. In 1983, she joined J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd, becoming a director in 1988, gaining considerable corporate finance experience. From 1993 until 1997, she was a Partner at Phoenix Securities and, following its takeover, subsequently a Managing Director at DLJ.

Alison also has extensive experience as a non-executive director, with a broad range of companies such as the Nationwide Building Society, Arcadia Group, National Power and Sears. Her current non-executive directorships include the, Gallaher Group Plc,
Friends Provident plc, Man Group plc Glas Cymru and the Chairmanship of The Vitec Group plc. Alison has announced her intention to step down as Chairman of The Vitec Group by the end of 2004.

Francis Salway and Mark Collins began their respective new roles as Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer of Land Securities today.

Salway took over from outgoing Chief Executive, Ian Henderson, at the company’s AGM today. Henderson, who has been with the company 33 years, will stay on at LandSec until the end of the year, leading its government lobbying initiatives.
