Klépierre has inaugurated the 12,000m² extension of its Créteil Soleil shopping centre, the flagship of its portfolio in France. This is the first stage of an even bigger project that also includes a complete renovation of the existing shopping centre planned to be completed by the end of 2020. The extension and renovation programs amount to an overall investment of approximately €170m.
The centre opened in 1974 and has grown over the years to forge a close and trusting relationship with the inhabitants of Créteil and the surrounding towns. With 21 million visits each year, the pioneering shopping mall today enjoys a major position in the European portfolio of Klépierre and is ranked in the top five highest-performing shopping centres in France.
The extension comprises 4,000m² “Food Avenue”, an area for special events, a cinema complex with 6 screens, and 15 retail units with new exclusive brands. The highly diverse food offer will welcome visitors’ favourite retailers such as Five Guys, Factory & Co or La Cantine Libanaise. Customers will also be able to enjoy pop-up stores such as the recently established home-made ice cream maker Louise. Among the other brands which signed with the centre are Monki, Normal and Nike.
“With over half of the new surface area focusing on food and cinema activities, Créteil Soleil is no longer an exclusive shopping destination. It has become a genuine living area for our visitors,” explained Jean-Marc Jestin, Chairman of the Klépierre Executive Board. “It is a real place of life rooted into the heart of its territory. It expresses - such as all our latest achievements throughout Europe - our the ambition to create a hybrid place that allows customers to discover, meet and connect with each other, as our Shop, Meet, Connect.® tagline tells; and above all the ambition of enrolling our action in an innovative process of sustainable development, of partnership with the local territories that welcome us, and of societal commitment in the spirit of our Act for Good® CSR policy”.
