John R. Frederiksen elected President of the European Property Federation (BE)

At its AGM in Tallinn, the EPF Managing Committee unanimously elected John Frederiksen, Chairman of the Board of the Danish Property Federation, as President of the European Property Federation (EPF). Frederiksen, who brought the Danish property industry into EPF in 2003, takes over at a time of accelerating European integration. His immediate task will be to promote EU policy facilitating cross-border property investment, in particular an EU legislative framework for real estate investment trusts (EU REIT).

Commenting on his election, Frederiksen said: "I have two connected priorities: taking the EU REIT project forward and making sure that the industry speaks with one voice. With good will, our very successful partnership with the European Landowners' Organization, RICS, TEGoVA and ULI can be extended even farther.

Michael MacBrien, EPF Director General, said: "The Nordic members have always played a leading role in EPF. In particular, EU environmental and energy efficiency policies have been shaped by the cutting edge experience of Nordic building management. It is fitting that the Federation now has a Nordic President."
