JM begins construction on phase two of new Käglinge neighborhood in Malmö region (SE)

JM begins construction on phase two of the new Käglinge neighborhood just east of Malmö. The new neighborhood is popular not only among Malmö residents, but also among Copenhageners who wish to live close to nature yet still have Ringvägen and the Öresund bridge within convenient commuting distance. Over half the houses in phase two are already reserved, with occupancy in the first houses in phase one scheduled for late September.

"Families with children who want an active lifestyle are among those who are moving in," says Mats Portland, at JM. Käglinge is located next to a large nature reserve that offers opportunities for exercise and recreation and it is within biking distance of the golf courses at both Sofiedal and Rönnebäck.

Maud Karlström from White architects designed the detached 1-story and 1.5-story houses, as well as 1.5-story semi-detached houses. "Easy-care" and "flexible" have been the keywords during the design process. The 1-story house has 3-4 rooms and a kitchen in 110 m². The 1-story house features extra high ceilings throughout the house. The 1.5-story house is 136 m² and can contain up to 6 rooms and a kitchen.

Special efforts have also been made to create a natural connection between the neighborhood's external environment and the adjacent nature reserve. Sofia Hultenberg and Peter Eklund from Landskapsgruppen in Lund are responsible for the landscaping.

Phase two consists of 24 houses. Occupancy is expected in summer/autumn 2007. JM is planning a total of four phases in Käglinge.
