International Valuation Standards Council appoints Technical Director (UK)

The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) has announced the appointment of Chris Thorne as Technical Director. Mr Thorne's appointment to this newly created role signifies an important stage in the growth and development of the IVSC.

Michel Prada, Chairman of the IVSC Board of Trustees, said, "The Trustees are committed to building the staff structure to support the volunteer efforts of Board members and enable a timely delivery of IVSC objectives. We are delighted to have one of the most experienced thinkers on issues related to valuation standard setting as the first IVSC Technical Director. Chris Thorne has more than 15 years of experience in valuation standard setting both nationally and internationally and has served as the chair of the IVSC's International Valuation Standards Board for the past two years."

Thorne joins from BNP Paribas Real Estate where he was a Senior Director and Technical Head of Valuation. In addition to his role as Chairman of the International Valuation Standards Board, he has played a leading role in the IVSC Valuation of Financial Instruments Group and has been the IVSC's representative to the FASB Valuation Resource Group.

Speaking of his new role he said "I am greatly looking forward to the challenge of helping IVSC continue its development and playing its part in improving the understanding and practice of valuation within the global financial system."
