ING Real Estate considers to move to Acanthus complex (Amsterdam)

ING Real Estate will probably move from The Hague to Amsterdam. The real estate section of ING Groep has selected one of their own objects, the office building Acanthus in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.

The employees of ING have already been informed of this intention. At short term, the employees coucil will be asked for advice. The actual decision is under the reserve of a final accordance of the management board.

The office development Acanthus in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, that will be delivered next autumn, is situated next to the Bijlmer station and at the vicinity of shopping center Amsterdamse Poort. The building consists of 42,000 m² and 615 parking places. The official rental level of the Acanthus building is € 200 per square meter. Acanthus is designed by Medic & Piljiz of Architecten Cie.

At the beginning of April, Fortis announced that it renounces the rent of the Acanthus office building. Internal research for over a year revealed that the concentration of all Fortis business parts in Amsterdam would not produce the intended cost reduction. Besides, a great number of employees did not intend to join the new location.

Fortis now focusses on ‘the maintenance and optimization of the existing office buildings in Amsterdam’. The company’s total use, partly property, partly rented, of real estate in Amsterdam is estimated 45,000 m².
