Yesterday shopping center Waasland in the Belgian Sint-Niklaas was officially opened. The shopping center was redeveloped by ING Real Estate and Bouwfonds Property Development and expanded to a total surface of 45,000 m².
The investment was approx. € 110 mln. The shopping center is an investment of ING Real Estate Investment Management.
The first phase of the redevelopment of the shopping center was completed in September 2003 when already 19,000 m² was redeveloped. The second phase included the extension of the shopping center with another 25,000 m². The number of shops is now 140. Anchor tenants are Hema, Vanderborre and United Brands. Waasland also holds the first foodcourt in a Belgian shopping mall.
