Industrial producer prices up by 0.2% in euro-zone and EU15

The euro-zone1 and EU15 industrial producer price index2 increased by 0.2% in October 2002 compared with the previous month, Eurostat - Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg - estimates today. This follows a rise of 0.3% in September 20023 in both zones. In October 2002 compared to October 2001, industrial producer prices increased by 0.9% in the euro-zone and by 0.7% in the EU15.

Monthly changes
In October compared to the previous month, the evolution of the different sectors was very similar in the euro-zone and the EU15. The increase in total industry is due to the energy sector, where prices rose by 0.9% in the euro-zone and by 1.0% in the EU15. In all other sectors prices remained unchanged in both areas.
