IMMOFINANZ Group opens Maritimo Shopping Center in Constanta (RO)

IMMOFINANZ Group, one of the five largest listed real estate investors and developers in Europe, has now opened its latest development project, the Maritimo Shopping Center in Constanta, Romania. More than 130 shops offer an attractive mix of food, fashion, sporting goods and electronics as well as leisure time activities and gastronomy on over 50,000 m². This shopping and entertainment center, which had reached a 99% level of rentals before the opening, has already become a benchmark for the region.

"We worked hard to create one of this country's most modern shopping centers for the residents of Constanta. The substantial interest by international and national retailers in this location and the many positive reactions, even before the opening, are an extremely positive sign. We are confident that the Maritimo Shopping Center will become a magnet for the local population", explained Eduard Zehetner, Chief Executive Officer of IMMOFINANZ Group, highlighting that the project was also completed on time.

The total cost of this project, including a co-investment by Auchan Hypermarket, amounted to approx. €100 million. The investment in the Maritimo Shopping Center has created more than 1,200 jobs. "This success was made possible by the outstanding and professional cooperation with local authorities, construction firms, retailers and the many other people who were involved in the project. At this time, my sincere thanks to all of them," added Zehetner.

Together with the recently opened extension to the Silesia City Center in Poland, the Maritimo Shopping Center is one of IMMOFINANZ Group's most important development projects. "We are pleased to play a key role in the expansion of the retail sector. The opening of the Maritimo Shopping Center today and the successful Silesia City Center expansion two weeks ago prove that our increased focus on the development of commercial properties is producing the desired results," commented Zehetner. Leases for more than 99 % of the total space had been signed prior to the opening in Constanta. Roughly 90 % of the retail areas are now completed, and the remainder will be ready in spring 2012.

Well-designed concept and convenient location
The overall concept of the Maritimo Shopping Center with more than 130 shops, an attractive gastronomy and entertainment area and 2,200 parking spaces was designed to meet the high demands of international and national tenants. At the same time, a balanced mix of tenants from fashion, sport, electronics and food adds to the attractiveness of the shopping center. Another important plus for the Maritimo Shopping Center is its location: The shopping center is located on the Aurel Vlaicu Boulevard, one of the main traffic arteries connecting the northern and southern areas of Constanta, which make it easy to reach for residents as well as tourists.

Attractive tenant mix
The balanced and – for Constanta – unique tenant mix in the Maritimo Shopping Center will provide an entirely new shopping experience: In addition to the city's largest Auchan Hypermarket (16,000 m²), visitors will find the first shops by Peek & Cloppenburg, C&A, H&M and New Yorker in the Constanta region. The Inditex Group has also leased 4,500 m² of selling space for its six fashion brands that are represented on the Romanian market – Zara, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho and Massimo Dutti. Cinema City, the leading movie theatre operator in Romania and Central Europe, plans to open an eight-room multiplex theatre in spring 2012.
