IMMOFINANZ Group: Green Building Award for the Bureau am Belvedere (AT/DE)

On April 18, 2012, IMMOFINANZ Group received the European Commission's Green Building Annual Award 2012 in the 'Renovation' category for the Bureau am Belvedere.

The modernization of these offices reduced energy consumption by 74.85%, which represents annual savings of 848.9 MWh. The awards ceremony took place at the seventh 'International Conference on Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings' in Frankfurt.

The Green Building Program is an environmental protection initiative supported by the European Commission, which is designed to reduce energy consumption in private and public office buildings. Projects from the program's partners were honored at last week's official awards ceremony. A significant improvement in energy efficiency led the jury to select the Bureau am Belvedere for this prize over 18 other competing buildings.

Eduard Zehetner, Chairman of the Executive Board of IMMOFINANZ Group, on this recognition: "After LEED Gold certification, this award is a further confirmation that our concept for the property is working.

"The Bureau am Belvedere was one of the buildings selected from over 600 projects – that is a distinctive honor and we are particularly pleased. Specially directed revitalization can also transform standing investments into sustainable, energy-efficient buildings."

The Bureau am Belvedere is located at a central site on Prinz-Eugen-Strasse in the fourth district of Vienna. As part of the general renovation, it was refitted with a high-quality facade made of Danube limestone that provides optimal thermal insulation. This energy-efficient construction method has led to in international LEED Gold certification and now also to the Green Building Award for the Bureau am Belvedere.
