The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the world's largest retail real estate membership organization, is throwing open the doors of its 2011 European conference to the world's most innovative retail concepts.
Barbara Somogyiova, Expansion Director of List Fashion Group, participated in the ICSC Retail Runway at its 2010 European Conference in Prague. She said: "This was a unique opportunity for me to present our business to the most senior members of the industry and meet them afterwards during the networking session. It opened a lot of doors for us very quickly."
Natalia Oreshina, ICSC European Conference Committee Member, said: "In a difficult economic market full of competition from other retailers and on-line, the best retailers are really stepping up their creativity and innovation to boost business. We are offering retailers the opportunity to show off their concepts to the industry's most senior decision-makers."
With the future shopping center pipeline vastly reduced (up to 7 million m² was put on hold or cancelled during the recession, according to some reports), retailers with expansion ambitions will be competing for a shortage of space, according to Natalia.
"For a few years before 2009, the supply of shops was higher than the demand as the number of shopping center openings grew, but now the situation has changed and retailers will face competition when they seek the best locations within shopping centers.
"We want to help the best retailers secure the best locations and offering them the opportunity to meet and present their concepts to hundreds of delegates at the ICSC European Conference, will put them in front of their competition."
