Eighteen shopping centres from across Europe, including SIX from the United Kingdom, have made it to the finals of the ICSC International Shopping Centre Marketing Awards, called the MAXI awards, to be presented in San Antonio Texas, USA on 29 September this year.

This is more than ever before and is proof, according to ICSC European Advisory Board Chair, Bertrand Courtois-Suffit, that the European Shopping Centre Industry is now at the head of the field, with the UK at the helm, in its creative and innovative approach to shopping centre marketing.

'This is a wonderful endorsement of our industry across Europe and a fantastic opportunity for us to stand alongside the rest of the world and showcase our shopping centre marketing campaigns with enormous pride', he said.

Shopping centre companies from The UK (Meadowhall, Sheffield; thecentremk, Milton Keynes; The Bullring, Birmingham; Brent Cross, London; Blue Water, Kent; Castlepoint, Bournemouth), Spain (Madrid Xanadu; Rodamco, Madrid;), Poland (Ogrody Centre, Warsaw), Italy (Shopville Le Gru, Torino; Shopville Grand Reno, Milan), France (SGC), Portugal (CascaiShopping, Cascais; Coimbra Retail Park, Coimbra) and Denmark (Bruun´s Galleri, Copenhagen; City Vest, Braband), are all in the running for awards, which could add to the awards already won at the ICSC Europe SOLAL Marketing Awards, announced in Rome in April this year.

The MAXI Awards Program is an international marketing competition that recognizes excellence in shopping centre marketing. MAXI Awards have been given every year since 1972 to those shopping centers and companies that have designed and implemented the most successful marketing programs during the previous year. The winners are able to clearly document substantial impact on the shopping centre or shopping centre company´s goal, and can measure results through effective, efficient and creative use of all available resources.

At last year´s MAXI Awards ceremony, CentrO Oberhausen, Germany won not only a full Maxi award for its ´Cow Culture Campaign´, but a merit as well.
