Smith has taken over responsibility for the running of the UK Chapter from Nigel Baker. He now heads up the team that makes the UK Chapter a reality for its members and deliver on the ethos of CoreNet Global, which is to enable professionals working in the CRE arena to Connect, Learn, Grow and Belong.

Smith's vision for his presidency of CoreNet Global UK Chapter, is "to continue to facilitate the correct environment for members to network and share thought leadership and best practice relevant to their employer's business and competitive advantage. The symbiotic relationship with landlords and closer working relationships with other professional property bodies is to be further developed.

"Market sector participation is to be enhanced beyond the service industry workplace to include the industrial/ manufacturing corporations. CoreNet aims to achieve this by optimizing revenues and sponsorship from major events, and reinvesting the surplus generated in research and development initiatives requested by its members.

"As the voice of the occupier, CoreNet UK will remain focused on CRES evolving with its employers' business, the market and the economy. The organization will remain relevant and dynamic and, in doing so, will build its reputation and membership, whilst maintaining a balance in relation to members' backgrounds."

He commented: "This is an important role; it's my responsibility to continue the great work that Nigel Baker and his predecessors have done in bringing the organization to where it is today. With over 550 members across the UK, CoreNet has a strong voice and a big part to play in advancing the careers and development of the professionals working in corporate real estate today."

The UK Chapter management team are planning the busy ongoing calendar of free-to-member events plus the UK Summit, taking place in London on February 9, 2012, which is one of the highlights of the year.
