Hypo Real Estate Bank International announces the appointment of Dr. Leonard Meyer zu Brickwedde (47), currently CEO of Hypo Real Estate Capital Japan Corporation, to the role of CEO of the bank´s Asian platform. In his new role he will be responsible for the bank`s lending business of the operations in Tokyo (Japan) and Hong Kong (China). He will report to Juergen Fenk, Member of the Board of Hypo Real Estate Bank International, alongside Harin Thaker (CEO Europe) and Andy Veith (CEO America/USA).
Hypo Real Estate Bank International reorganized its global lending business into three geographical regions (Europe, U.S. and Asia) at the beginning of this year; the management of these regions has been combined into single entities ("business platforms"). This organizational structure is designed to meet the increased requirements of customers and the challenges of intensified competition.
Following an apprenticeship in banking Leonard Meyer zu Brickwedde studied law at the universities in Münster and Osnabrück , where he finished his dissertation ("Doctor of Law") in 1987. He started his professional career in 1986 with Bankhaus Hallbaum Maier & Co. Meyer zu Brickwedde joined Bayerische Vereinsbank in 1988. Since 1993 he held various positions at this bank, as well as HypoVereinsbank (HVB) in Tokyo. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of Hypo Real Estate Capital Japan Corporation in February 2004.
