Hotel Des Indes The Hague winner of the FGH Real Estate Prize 2006 (NL)

On 6 November 2006, Ms Brouwer, Mayor of Utrecht and chair of the 2006 FGH Real Estate Prize jury, announced that the FGH Real Estate Prize for 2006 had been awarded to Maatschap Des Indes for the redevelopment of the five star Hotel des Indes in The Hague. On behalf of Maatschap Des Indes, Rob Brinkel received the award from Peter Keur, CEO of FGH Bank.

Out of respect for this unique building and its particular history, the owners have transformed Hotel des Indes into a five star accommodation which entirely meets the wishes of our modern time. Moreover the jury believes that the relatively high investment in a risky use function has proven to be certainly justified. Finally the hotel is not only for its direct surroundings a monumental object, also for the city of The Hague and its surroundings Des Indes is renowned.

According to the jury the redeveloped hotel is able to further reinforce this position and will give a contribution to further increase the positive image of the city of The Hague. That the project risk and the project economy are also under control, makes that Hotel Des Indes has been chosen to winner of the FGH Real Estate Prize 2006.

The award ceremony and celebrations took place in the Beatrix Theatre in Utrecht. The other nominated projects were (in alphabetical order):

  • Office building De Brug in Rotterdam(Dura Vermeer Groep NV),
  • City center development in Etten-Leur (Centrumplan Etten-Leur v.o.f: BAM Vastgoed, Johan Matser Projectontwikkeling en BVR Projectontwikkeling)
  • the former Renault garage in Amsterdam (Wibautstraat 224 v.o.f./DVM B.V.)

The FGH Real Estate Prize is the biennial award for distinctive entrepreneurship in the commercial real estate market. This year the prize was awarded for the ninth time.
