HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung sells new office building in Berlin-Mitte (DE)

HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung has sold the office building on Caroline-Michaelis-Strasse in Berlin-Mitte to the social arm of the Protestant Church (Diakonisches Werk) and the Protestant Church Development Service (Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst) for €65.4 million. These two charitable bodies of the Protestant Church will merge next year to become the Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung, moving to the new property in October 2012.

Evangelisches Werk

A gross floor area of around 23,000 m² is being created.

The shell construction of the centrally-located seven-story property will be completed by January 2012. A gross floor area of around 23,000 m² is being created which will contain office space for about 640 employees, as well as conference rooms, a chapel, and a corporate restaurant. A public café and retail outlets are planned for the ground floor.

A sustainable energy concept is being developed to ensure the building's energy efficient operation so that, for example, the annual primary energy requirement will be reduced to less than 70 kilowatt hours per m².

The 'Haus des Evangelischen Werks für Diakonie und Entwicklung' will be built to meet the criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen DGNB) with the aim of attaining DGNB Gold certification.
