Hines to develop Mandarin Oriental in Marbella, Spain (ES/US)

The Marbella office of Hines has been chosen by Las Colinas de Marbella SA as the development manager for a resort project operated by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Benahavis, Málaga. The resort, owned by the real estate company Las Colinas de Marbella, will include a 153-room, three-story hotel, an exceptional spa of approximately 29,000 ft², a conference center, a beach club as well as 15 villas and 40 apartments.

Gabriel Allende is the architect. LTW Design Works from Singapore is designing the hotel's interior spaces, while Rockwell Group Europe from Madrid is designing the residences. Construction of the resort will begin in 2008, with completion expected in 2010.

Mandarin Oriental Group has a total portfolio of 20 properties already open and 19 under construction in Asia, the U.S., the Caribbean, Europe and Morocco.

Hines opened its Marbella office in 2005. Currently, in Marbella, the firm has 169 apartments under construction and another 220 in the planning stages in Altos de los Monteros. The office is responsible for all developments in Southern Spain.
