Henderson launches High Alpha UK Equity pooled fund (UK)

Henderson Global Investors has announced the launch of the Henderson High Alpha UK Equity Fund, a pooled fund for institutional investors, on 31 July 2007.

The Fund will have a target return of 2-3% above the FTSE All Share Index. It will be managed by Henderson's four strong UK Equity team, headed by Graham Kitchen, and will primarily invest in large and mid-cap companies across a concentrated portfolio of 50-60 stocks.

The UK Equity team uses a bottom up stock selection process, based on fundamental and qualitative analysis of companies, underpinned by a strong valuation discipline. This enables them to identify companies with good long-term prospects trading at reasonable valuations.

The team's relatively small size of four investment professionals is typical of Henderson's investment teams which tend to be small specialist groups where ideas can be communicated swiftly and efficiently and strong working relationships can develop. This 'boutique' team structure, supported by Henderson's wider resources, ensures that the fund managers are free to focus on generating value for clients.

Graham Kitchen, Head of the UK Equity team at Henderson Global Investors, commented, "Institutional investors are now willing to take on more risk to make their equity assets work harder for them. As a team we have a strong track record in UK equities and we are confident that we can continue this record with the High Alpha UK Equity Fund through our clear and simple investment process, based on valuation driven, bottom up stock selection, to deliver consistent excess returns for our clients."

Jane Shoemake, Investment Director, UK Equities, said, "The launch of a pooled product allows smaller clients access to this highly proven team with a strong long-term track record. The shift in client demand towards higher levels of outperformance means that the High Alpha UK Equity Fund is well positioned within the UK marketplace."
