Helical Bar appointed as Development Managers by Sainsburys in Fulham (UK)

Helical Bar plc has been appointed by Sainsbury's to act as Development Managers to provide a new food store and 650-700 residential units at Townmead Road fronting the River Thames in Fulham.

Sainsbury's has an existing food store on the site and recently acquired an adjoining site known as Fulham Wharf. The intention is to develop the new food store on the Fulham Wharf site and once complete, close the existing store. The residential accommodation will sit above the new food store and on the site of the existing Sainsbury's store.

The scheme will also provide a much improved riverside walkway and better links to the river as well as cafés and restaurants around new public realm. Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands has been appointed as architect for the scheme and the public consultation exercise has just commenced with a planning submission expected early next year.

Matthew Bonning-Snook, Director at Helical Bar plc commented: "We are delighted to be working with Sainsbury's on this superbly located mixed use project. We have a successful track record in the Borough where we are actively involved in two other major regeneration projects. We hope to further add to those successes working in partnership with Sainsbury's."

John Rogers, Property Director at Sainsbury's added; "This is a hugely important scheme for us and marks our continued focus on extracting value from the existing portfolio. We are pleased to have Helical Bar plc working alongside us to achieve these goals".
