Heimstaden expands its German resi portfolio

Skjerven Group has acquired a portfolio comprising 599 apartments and a total rental area of 44,650m². Out of a total of 27 properties, 21 are located in Berlin and six others in Bielefeld. The purchase was made on behalf of Heimstaden, one of the largest Swedish housing companies. Skjerven Group acted as the investment manager for the transaction and will take over the asset management of the portfolio.

"Heimstaden's commitment confirms the sustainable housing potential of Berlin and the growth regions in Germany," said Einar Skjerven, Managing Director of the Skjerven Group. "Even the large number of legal restrictions and the confusing political situation in Berlin will hardly stop long-term fundamentals and investor interest.”

The purchase is the largest privately-owned transaction on the Berlin housing market since the plans for the so-called rental cap were announced in June last year. The houses are spread across the city in seven districts of Berlin and are mostly located in attractive locations within the S-Bahn ring. The total purchase price is around €125m.
