Heijmans in joint venture with Blackwell

Heijmans N.V. has entered into a joint venture with the English firm C.A. Blackwell (contracts) Ltd., a subsidiary of C.A. Blackwell Group Limited. A statement of intent has been signed between Blackwell and the Heijmans Infrastructure and Environment division. The joint venture Heijmans Blackwell Remediation Ltd. will be concerned with soil remediation activities in Great Britain and Ireland.

Blackwell’s core activities are civil engineering and earthmoving. The company also conducts a wide range of activities in earthworks, road works and hydraulic engineering. Blackwell, based in Essex, is primarily active in Great Britain. The company’s net turnover in 2001 amounted to £ 43.7 million and demonstrated good profit-making levels. Blackwell employs 354 people.

The joint venture is to purchase an operational soil remediation system, with the expectation that this system will be able to remediate at least 80,000 tonnes of soil per year for the next five years.
