Greater Amsterdam Area continues to attract foreign companies

Despite the economic downturn, 74 foreign firms set up in the greater Amsterdam area in 2001. The newcomers - half of which are engaged in ICT - provided 1,507 new jobs. In total, foreign firms generated an additional 1,889 jobs.

Key advantages of Amsterdam cited by foreign firms include the cityÂ's central location in Europe, the proximity of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the language skills of the local people. They are even more satisfied than last year with the accommodation on offer and the availability of suitable staff.
