The development is scheduled for completion on May 1, 2012.

This latest pre-committed development signals Goodman's first success in the Hamburg market and comes immediately after the Group's strategic decision to focus on this particular region.

"STARCO is one of the leading suppliers for tires, hoses and rims in Europe. We are delighted to have signed this pre-committed development, which complements our list of successes this year with another interesting and challenging project," said Andreas Fleischer, Goodman Country Manager for Germany.

"Hamburg is the biggest and most active logistics market in Germany, and we are therefore focused on significantly expanding our activities in this region. Winsen is currently one of the most dynamic locations in the southern Elbe region and has excellent transport connections, providing a number of potential opportunities.

"In this regard, we have secured further development sites in the area to take advantage of this."

The new logistics center forms a key part of STARCO's future growth plans, as the company has outgrown its existing warehouse and this has driven the need for larger, more efficient logistics space.

"Goodman advised us extensively and presented a flexible concept with additional expansion capability. Furthermore, Goodman was the only property group that could meet the tight schedule we required," STARCO GmbH Managing Director Axel Werner explains.

For the STARCO logistics center, Goodman purchased a site of almost two hectares in the Luhdorf industrial area from the town of Winsen (Luhe), from NILEG (Niedersächsische Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft – Lower Saxony state development company). The development will offer 10,700 m² of warehouse space and approximately 700 m² of associated office space. It is scheduled for completion on May 1, 2012.

The Winsen site offers good transport connections via the neighboring A39 motorway, and is just 30 km from Hamburg. If required, Goodman can increase the size of the facility being developed for STARCO by an additional 5,000 m² at short notice.

In the initial stage of expansion, a further 15 new skilled members of staff will be recruited in addition to the current 25 employees.

André Wiese, Mayor of the town of Winsen (Luhe), is delighted that STARCO will set up operations in the area. He said he was pleased that another prestigious company has been successfully linked with Winsen. This confirms both the appeal of the industrial area, and Winsen as a business location.

"Both Goodman as an investor and STARCO as an employer are very welcome in Winsen. We look forward to a good working relationship with both of them," he said.

Goodman is seeking certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
