Goodman to build 26,200-m² warehouse for Metsä Tissue in Krapkowice, near Opole (PL)

Goodman Group announces the development of a 26,200-m² warehouse for Metsä Tissue, a leading European supplier of tissue and cooking paper, in Krapkowice, near the city of Opole, in Silesia, the main industrial hub in Poland. Construction commenced in September and is expected to be completed by March 2012.

The pre-committed development follows Goodman's successful delivery of a 36,400-m² warehouse for Metsä Tissue in Duren, Germany in 2008.

Goodman currently has over 130,000 m² of logistics space under construction across seven developments in Poland.

"We are pleased to have been selected for the Krapkowice project, which will be Goodman's second development for Metsä Tissue. It confirms Metsä Tissue's confidence and trust in Goodman to deliver a flexible property solution that fully meets their unique warehousing needs," said Blazej Ciesielczak, Goodman's Country Manager for Poland.

Goodman will develop a state-of-the-art production and warehousing facility at Krapkowice next to Metsä Tissue's existing mill. It will have 26,200 m² of warehouse space and 400 m² of associated office space.

"We selected Goodman to construct our new converting and warehousing building because we were satisfied with our previous relationship and we are confident that Goodman will deliver for us once again. The move from our old warehouses to one efficient unit will further improve the efficiency of our goods handling and delivery service," said Lars Warvne, SVP, Technology and Operations, Metsä Tissue.

Sustainable features to be incorporated into the new development include a rain water retention tank, which will be used to transport rain water to a nearby river system, and the installation of a heat recovery system to provide heating for the warehouse.

The Metsä Tissue warehouse at Krapkowice will be situated just 4 km from the A4 motorway connecting Kraków and Wroclaw, and 27 km from Opole.
