Goodman signs the largest development deal in years in Barcelona for Decathlon (ES)

Goodman, a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial real estate, has signed an agreement with Decathlon, a leading European company specialized in the design, selling and distribution of sports materials, to develop a 40,000 m² logistics center.
The pre-lease agreement represents the largest development deal in the Barcelona region over the last six years. Decathlon will use the new facility to relocate two regional distribution centers that the company currently has in Martorell (Baix Llobregat) and Vilafranca (Alt Penedés) into one central distribution center, servicing 20 stores in the region. The new facility will play a key role in the logistics network of the world’s largest sports retailer, for which Spain is its biggest market outside of France.
The new facility will feature approximately 40,000 m²of warehousing space, equipped with a free height of nearly 11 m, and 2,000 m²of office and social space. Goodman will include a number of sustainability features, such as motion sensor lighting, high amounts of natural lighting, rain water capture and enhanced insulation.  On completion of the building, Goodman will seek BREAM GOOD certification. The total site area is just under 60,000 m²and includes extensive manoeuvring areas and parking spaces for cars and trucks.
