Goodman granted planning consent for Hinckley parcel hub (UK)

Goodman has secured detailed planning permission for a state of the art parcel hub at Hinckley Commercial Park in the East Midlands. The 330,000 ft² (approx. 30,658 m²) logistics property will now be developed for the UK’s fastest growing parcel carrier, DPD.

The facility will accommodate DPD’s growing UK business, driven by the need for efficient parcel delivery as a result of the rise in online shopping. Since 2009, DPD has increased its sales by more than 50% and is expanding in order to meet the growing demand from the home delivery sector.

The planning permission paves the way for the creation of 1,000 new permanent jobs at the hub, providing a significant economic boost to the regional economy. The new investment of approximately £100 million (approx. €117.37 million) reflects DPD’s long term commitment to the region.

Goodman will deliver the new facility, which marks the second phase in Hinckley Commercial Park’s development and confirms the location as a prime distribution center for the core East Midlands market. Following outline planning consent, which Goodman secured in 2010, the group has invested over £14 million into the site’s infrastructure to date.
