GETZ Entertainment scoops prestigious retail accolade

The GETZ Entertainment Centre in Amsterdam has been crowned the winner of the leisure category in the EG Retail and Future Project Awards 2007, held at Mapic last night.

Due for completion in 2011, the retail and leisure complex is being developed by OMC, a partnership that comprises ING Real Estate Development, BAM Vastgoed and Ballast Nedam Projectontwikkeling, and incorporates a wide range of facilities, including music and dance, sport, entertainment, homes, shopping and car parking.

Designed by American architects, The Jerde Partnership, the 162,000 m² complex also boasts two music venues, the Music Centre and the Culture Cluster, with the latter being home to three leading cultural institutions: Paradiso, Cosmic Theatre and Imagine IC

A favorite meeting place, GETZ is located at the ArenA Boulevard in Amsterdam Southeast, and acts as a strategic link between the various entertainment and shopping facilities located there. One of three designated "center areas" of the City in which commercial uses that draw visitors on a national scale are located, the wide variety of uses at Arena Boulevard currently attracts more than 4.1 million people per year.
