Gazprom wants new $600 million office building in St. Petersburg (RU)

The Russian gasconcern Gazprom wants to have a new office premises build in St.-Petersburg for approximately 600 million dollar. CEO Alexei Miller explained that seven international architects have been selected to make the design for the building that will become 300 meters high. One of the architects is the famous Dutchman Rem Koolhaas.

The new building must fit in the 'historical surroundings of St.-Petersburg' according to Alexei Miller. The mayor of the city, Valentina Matvijenko, spoke of a 'super project and a masterpiece'. The inhabitants will get participation in the design.
As the project continues, is it the most ambitious one in modern Russia.
