Galeria Pomorska in Bydgoszcz secures masterplan for expansion (PL)

The City of Bydgoszcz has approved the masterplan that enables substantial expansion of the Galeria Pomorska shopping center in Bydgoszcz. The masterplan, approved in 2009, will enable the 30,000 m² property to double in size on the 8.5 hectare site whilst providing significant additional car parking.

Stuart Lang of the Asset Manager Balmain Asset Management said, "The new masterplan allows us to progress our plans for an expansion of Galeria Pomorska with greater certainty enabling us to respond to retailer demand for more space in this successful shopping center."

Magdalena Kondeja, Leasing Manager for Balmain added, "We continue to receive strong interest from many retailers not currently in Bydgoszcz in addition to a number of our existing retailers wanting to upsize their stores."

Edyta Potera, director in retail department of Jones Lang LaSalle, said, "Currently we observe more selective approach from retailers - they develop with caution giving preferences to the existing, successfully performing shopping centers with established market position as Galeria Pomorska."

Galeria Pomorska is the longest established shopping center in Bydgoszcz having opened in April 2003. Located at ul. Fordonska 141, the centre is anchored by a Carrefour Hypermarket and contains 100 shops including H&M, Reserved, Smyk, Empik, KappAhl, Euro RTV AGD, Almi Decor, Takko, CCC, Douglas, McDonalds and a family bowling centre. Jones Lang LaSalle is responsible for leasing in Galeria Pomorska.
