Foster + Partners has been awarded two prestigious RIBA Awards for the Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough and Wembley Stadium in London. Both will find out whether they have won RIBA National Awards when they are announced in June.
Wembley Stadium was selected from 131 London entries and presented with a RIBA award in the Arts and Leisure category at today's ceremony in the Young Vic Theatre. The judges praised it as both an "outstanding practical achievement" and an "enormously successful London landmark".
Thomas Deacon Academy was described by the judges as "a pleasure to be in" and "a beacon for secondary school design". Winning a RIBA award for the East region, the building opened to students in September and is the largest of Foster + Partners' academy projects.
