Foruminvest to open first shopping center in Italy (NL/IT)

A year after the opening of its Italian offices in Milan, project developer Foruminvest has notched up its first Italian success. Recently, a contract was signed with the municipality of Teramo for the construction of a shopping center with a rental space of 30.000 m² and a new stadium for FC Teramo (serie C), with seating capacity for 8,500 spectators. The development also includes car parking space for 5,000 vehicles.

Construction on the new shopping center commenced recently and building on the stadium will start in July. Teramo is situated 150 km to the east of Rome and the site provides direct access to the A24 trunk road which links Rome with the Adriatic coast.

The Gran Sasso shopping center will accommodate a 10,000 m² hypermarket (E. Leclerc (Conad)). 80% of space has already been snapped up and retail outlets include Giacomelli Sport, Oviesse, Unieuro, Burger King, The Body Shop, Promod and Stefanel.

Gran Sasso will play an important role in the local region with a catchment area of 135,000 consumers. The opening of the Gran Sasso shopping center and the stadium are planned for the last quarter of 2007.
