Foreign investments in Montenegro reach €5.5 bln (ME)

Montenegro tops the Balkan region regarding the volume of foreign investments, says Milos Jovanovic, head of the country’s agency for investment promotion.
Jovanovic says that foreign investments in Montenegro have reached €5.5 bln over the past eight years. “We are expecting three companies from Qatar, Jordan and the United States in the coming days. They focus on tourism, oil and IT, attracted by our low profit tax rate of nine percent”, says Jovanovic.
According to data of the Montenegro statistical office, foreign investments amounted to €435.6 mln in 2012, rising to €485.3 mln in 2013.
Investments in the country’s construction sector saw €264 mln in 2013.
