First phase Baneasa Commercial Area in Bucharest successfully completed (RO)

The first phase of Baneasa Commercial Area - the largest retail space in South-Eastern Europe, located in the northern part of Bucharest, has now been successfully completed with the opening of Mobexpert store and is now fully ready to serve the needs of Bucharest citizens.

Baneasa Shopping City will offer to its customers more than 220 stores of the highest European standards. Unlike other malls in the Romanian market, Baneasa Shopping City will have a three level "food-court", with a panoramic view of the entertainment area around it. As a premiere for the Romanian market, the entertainment area will bring a huge diversity of entertainment and leisure possibilities for the whole family. All those who want to enjoy quality shopping will be able to do so with a visit to Baneasa Shopping City, starting the late fall 2007, when the mall will open.

Fully delivered by the end of next year, Baneasa Commercial Area will offer in total, more than 250,000 m² retail area, representing the largest choice in terms of fashion, services, leisure and fun activities, providing a unique shopping and entertainment city destination for Bucharest.

Baneasa Commercial Area phase one comprises: Metro „cash & carry" opened last year, Feeria commercial gallery, one of the largest Carrefour hypermarkets in Romania, both opened in April 2006, Bricostore „Do It Yourself" concept opened in May 2006 and now the Mobexpert Gallery, the number 1 furniture producer and retailer in Romania.

The second phase of Baneasa Commercial Area will be finalized at the end of 2007 and will comprise: Ikea, the world most successful furniture retailer, a Motor City – an area for showrooms dedicated to host the most well known car brands, and Baneasa Shopping City, the largest commercial Shopping Mall in Romania.

Baneasa Commercial Area is one of the 3 principle integrated parts of the Baneasa Project itself the largest mixed used urban development in the South Eastern Europe. The Project investment will exceed €1.2 billion and will be built on over 221 hectares. In addition to the 250,000 m² of retail area, the Baneasa project will provide over 3,000 housing units and the largest Business & Technology Park in Romania, providing over 160,000 m² of high quality office space.
