First LEED certificate for new buildings in the Nordics (FI)

Moveres Business Garden, located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, is the first new building in the Nordic countries to be awarded with the internationally recognized green building certification LEED. Peab Oy developed the concept of Moveres Business Garden and Antti-Matti Siikala's SARC office was responsible for the architectural design.

Moveres Business Garden is a concrete example of the groundbreaking change that is taking place in the building industry. The building is an internationally certified forerunner for green design, construction and usage in the Nordic countries. The challenge of the climate change is altering the construction practices all over the world. Various certification systems offer useful tools for environment friendly design, construction and usage.

The most widespread of the certification systems is the originally American, now already international LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The first LEED certification in the Nordic countries has just been awarded to Moveres Business Garden in Pitäjämäki, Helsinki. The building was developed and built by Peab Oy.

The LEED certificate is awarded by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), which is an independent, non-profit and rapidly internationalizing expert organization in the industry. LEED-certificates are awarded to both new and renovated buildings.
