FIABCI-USA member elected FIABCI World President-Elect (US)

Owen Gwyn, FIABCI-USA Past President, was elected as the 2006-2007 FIABCI World President at the FIABCI World Congress in Athens, Greece this June. Gwyn will serve as the 2005-2006 FIABCI World President-Elect under current FIABCI World President Dato Alan Tong of Malaysia.

Gwyn is committed to the goals of the FIABCI organization and has a particular interest in increasing membership worldwide, holding world-class international events, and continuing to provide simultaneous interpretation at FIABCI meetings. In a recent interview, Gwyn explained, "FIABCI membership has given me the understanding to respect and appreciate our cultural diversity and these differences form the strength of our federation. I strive to strengthen the impact of our mission within the international community and work to provide society with the optimal solutions for our real estate industry's needs. And, in so doing … to maximize the impact of FIABCI membership."

Gwyn has been extremely active in FIABCI and FIABCI-USA. He is a Past President of FIABCI-USA, served five years as President of the FIABCI Scholarship Foundation, and most recently served as President of the FIABCI Education and Academic Members Committee. He currently represents FIABCI at the United Nations as DPI Representative. In 1994, he was the first American awarded the FIABCI Outstanding Host Award. He has also received many awards from the United States Chapter including the Medal of Honor and the FIABCI Scholarship Foundation Philanthropist of the Year Award.

Gwyn, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is the Chairman of GEOCORP, a source for U.S. commercial real estate investments. Gwyn has been an active real estate broker since 1976, and handles a wide range of properties. His development activities focus on convenience petroleum fueling installations, and acting as a petroleum wholesaler for the Royal-Dutch/ Shell Group.
