Europe Center Sofia awarded with status 'First Class Investment' (BG/DE/UK)

Invest Bulgaria Agency awarded Europe Center Sofia with the status of a First Class Investment. The Certificate was handed over on 5 September 2007 to GTM–Angel Balevski EAD and ECE Projektmanagement Bulgaria, who are jointly realizing the shopping center.

Europe Center Sofia is a major part of the Europe Park Sofia which will emerge in the heart of the city. The shopping center will offer approx. 70,000 m² of retail space and thus be the biggest inner city shopping gallery of Sofia. A further highlight of Europe Park is the Europe Tower. The office tower, with its 40 stories and a height of over 180 meters, will be the highest structure in the country and thus will become the new landmark of the bustling capital. An international contest for the architectural design and urban integration of the Europe Tower was held in June and was won by the German architectural firm HPP (Hentrich-Petschnigg / Partner).

Europe Park is going to be a multi-use urban quarter, comprising shopping facilities, offices, apartments, hotels, a cinema and other entertainment facilities. It will also include the creation of approx. 3,000 parking spaces. The start of construction is scheduled for the beginning of 2008. Europe Center and Europe Tower shall be completed by 2010. The total investment volume for Europe Park exceeds €500 million.

Europe Park Sofia is being realized by ECE Projektmanagement, European market leader in shopping centers, GTM-Angel Balevski EAD, Balkancar Sredez AD and Advance Properties Ltd., one of the biggest real estate players in Bulgaria.

"It is a great honour and stimulus for us, to create a really outstanding building," stated Krasimir Dachev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GTM – Angel Balevski EAD. "The Certificate paves the way for the creation of a modern, multi-use quarter on the former Balkancar site," added Henrie Kötter, Managing Director of ECE Bulgaria.
