Eurohypo opens new office in Helsinki (DE/FI)

On November 16, 2004, Eurohypo AG has opened a representative office in Helsinki. Eurohypo has long been represented in Northern Europe by its predecessor banks. This presence in Helsinki will close up the final gap on Eurohypo’s European map.

Against the backdrop of a weak European economy, the Finnish real estate finance market has proved to be remarkably robust and promising. “With the expansion of the EU, Finland has taken a big step forward from being on the sidelines of Europe to being at the continent’s heart,” said Eurohypo’s CEO, Bernd Knobloch, during a Bank reception in Helsinki.

As an appreciation for the increase in transparency on the Finnish real estate market during last years Eurohypo announced its intention to sponsor the Institute for Real Estate Economics KTI during 2005. Mr. Olli Olkkonen, Managing Director and Ms. Hanna Kaleva, Research Director of KTI were personally on place to receive the signed sponsorship contract

Altogether up to € 20 billion of real estate investment capital was represented in the event.

The Helsinki office is headed up by Leo Lillandt, who has been with the Bank since 1999 and has in-depth knowledge of the Finnish real estate market gained from working for various Finnish companies. In addition, he had a chair in Property Asset and Facilities Management at the Helsinki University of Technology.
